PURPOSE:To easily retrieve the content and the preserved place of a preservation document by automatically registering part of a prepared document, the name of a document, and that of a preservation medium, enabling the name of the document and part of the document to be retrieved by inputting the name of the preservation medium, and furthermore, inputting part of the document. CONSTITUTION:When a prescribed document is prepared newly or the document preserved in a floppy disk 3 is corrected, a preparing document registration/deletion picture is displayed on a display 4, and the name of the document to be prepared and that of the preservation medium, etc., are registered. When a preserved document is retrieved, a document retrieval picture is displayed on the display 4, and a retrieval function is selected. At such a case, the name of the document preserved in the preservation medium and part of the registered document are displayed on the display 4 by inputting the name of the preservation medium. Furthermore, the name of the preservation medium of the document and that of the document can be retrieved by inputting part of the document already prepared and registered. In such a way, the retrieval of the preserved place of the prepared document, etc., can be easily performed.
