Two collimators 11, 12, provided of point sources c1, c2, are arranged to inject two beams, 53, 54 which are symmetrical with respect to the sighting line ox, in the lens 6 of the optical system. It determines the position of the line of sight in determining the centre o ′ of the segment joining the images 11, 12 of the point sources formed by the lens, and the scale factor, by determining the length of the segment, the angle e1 + e2 of the beams being constant, by construction, and therefore known. The determination of the position of the sighting line does not depend on a possible error focusing. It is possible to divide each of the beams in order to determine the scaling factor after having eliminated the error of the focusing. / p & & p & the invention applies to the thermal cameras, for example.
