A pipe-work installation, in which a liq. circulates, is provided with an overpressure protection device to prevent damage to the pipework in the event of a pressure rise due to expansion of the liq. as a result of temp. changes. The device consists of a short branch pipe (2) which is welded to the main pipe (1). The branch pipe (2) forms a cylindrical chamber which encloses a sealed flexible metal bellows (3) which is filled with a gas, pref. air. The expansion of the liq. in the pipework is compensated by the compression of the bellows. USE - Accommodation of thermal expansion in pipework.
