A suspension control system includes a road surface sensor (200) which produces a road condition indicative signal A controller (100) detects bounding and rebounding motions of the vehicle suspension on the basis of the road condition indicative signai from the road sensor. The controller (100 monitors wher the bounding and rebounding motion exceeds a predetermined level and when its frequency falis within a giver frequency range. These conditions reflect typica vehicie bodv behavior during travel along an undulating road in which case. the controller (100) produces a contro signal to stiffer the suspension system. This suppresses pitching motion of the vehicle on undulating road so as tc satisfactorily and successfully provide good riding comfort
