In the regulation of the ink supply according to colorimetric or densitometric parameters, process-related influences for optimum adaptation to the printing process and to the colour sensitivity of the human eye should not be left unconsidered during printing. …??For single-colour and multi-colour regulation, methods are therefore proposed which actuate an intended location (Soll) considering the independent boundary conditions - maximum permissible tonal value increase(s) and maximum permissible ink film thickness(s), which intended location is situated both within the tolerable tonal value increase(s) (ZSoll +/- ZTol or ZSolli +/- ZToli) and within the colour tolerance (ETol) or density tolerance (DVTol) or within the tolerance area (TolR). If the intended location (Soll1) does not fulfil these two independent boundary conditions simultaneously, the tolerance range of the tonal value increase(s) is widened and an intended location (Soll2 or Opt) is checked to establish whether it now obeys both boundary conditions simultaneously.
