PURPOSE:To deposit crystallites having higher hardness than a glass melt and obtain scuff-resistant crystallized glass, by cooling and solidifying the glass melt to room temperature. CONSTITUTION:A melt of ZnO-Y2O-Al2O3-SiO2 based glass containing 42-55mol% SiO2, 15-32mol% ZnO, 7-20mol% Al2O3 and 8-19mol% Y2O3 is make to flow out of a crucible, cooled and solidified to room temperature. Thereby, crystallites of gahnite (ZnO.Al2O3) are deposited on the glass surface to give the aimed scuff-resistant crystallized glass.
