NEW MATERIAL:A (4-benzyloxy)phenyl(5-halogenopentyl) ether shown by formula I (X is halogen). EXAMPLE:[4-Benzyloxy]phenyl[5-bromopentyl] ether. USE:Useful as a raw material for producing omega-(1-imidazolyl)pentyloxybenzene derivative having lipid lowering action, especially excellently lowering action on cholesterol and triglyceride and further inhibitory action on aggregation of blood platelet and useful for treating and remedying arteriosclerosis, cerebral infarct, transient ischemic attack or angina pectoris. PREPARATION:For example, as shown by the reaction formula, sodium phenoxide shown by formula II is reacted with a 1,5-dihalogenopentyl shown by formula III in a mixed solution of benzene-dimethylformamide to give a compound shown by formula I.
