PURPOSE:To discontinuously dehydrate and coagulate mud or the like by dissolving the respective specified amounts of MgCl2.6H2O, KAl(SO4)2.12H2O, KCl, Al2(SO4)3 and Fe2(SO4)3 into water to prepare a treating agent. CONSTITUTION:A treating agent for dehydrating, coagulating and stabilizing mud is prepared by dissolving inorganic chemical substance consisting of =1wt.% MgCl2.6H2O, =2wt.% KAl(SO4)2.12H2O, =1wt.% KCl, =2wt.% Al2(SO4)3 and =2wt.% Fe2(SO4)3 as a main component into water. Besides, CaCl2.2H2O can be utilized instead of MgCl2.6H2O. Mud is dehydrated and coagulated by adding a cationic high polymer flocculating agent, the above- mentioned treating agent for mud, sodium hydroxide and an anionic high polymer flocculating agent in this order to mud and allowing these substances to react with each other.
