PURPOSE:To attain measure of natural hand motion for an unspecific object by photographing colors applied to a glove, and recognizing hand motion without using a sensor. CONSTITUTION:A right hand is photographed by TV cameras 1, 2 respectively at different angles and their photographed outputs 1a, 2a are applied to a color extracting device 3. The device 3 extracts respective colors applied to the glove and supplies images 1b, 2b obtained by extracting the colors applied to the positions of the 1st to 3rd joints of the forefinger e.g. to a state measuring instrument 4. The instrument 4 measures the states of respective fingers, i.e. the bends and extension of joints, the contact state of fingers and a space position. Thus, the hand motion can be recognized by photographing plural different colors applied to the glove and extracting color information corresponding to respective colors.
