PURPOSE:To improve transparency, refractive index, wear resistance, dyeability and antistatic property by mixing an acidic aq. Sb2O5 sol with a tungstate and adding an amine and carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:Potassium antimonate obtd. by allowing Sb2O3 to react with KOH is deionized to obtain an acidic aq. Sb2O5 sol of pH 1-6 having 2-50wt.% concn. of Sb2O5. This sol is mixed with a tungstate such as Na2WO4.2H2O at room temp. to 100 deg.C so that the weight ratio of WO3 to Sb2O5 is regulated to 0.1-1. An amine such as methylamine or the amine and carboxylic acid such as formic acid are added to the mixture by 1-30wt.% of the total amt. of WO3 and Sb2O5 as required. A WO3-Sb2O5 combined sol having 0.1-100 weight ratio of WO3 to Sb2O5 and contg. an alkali metal or ammonium (M) in 0.02-0.7 molar ratio of M2O to WO3+Sb2O5 or further contg. the amine or the amine and carboxylic acid is obtd.
