The video image processing circuit includes a automatic expansion circuit which receives the video signal, and ensures optimum contrast over the whole of the image. A second expansion circuit also receives the signal and ensures optimum contrast in an image window, as well as in all other zones of the image having a contrast similar to that in the window. The output signals from the two circuits are added to produce a composite image in which a detail, which was previously difficult to see, is now shown with strong contrast. USE - Enhancement of video image used for observation, and target sighting.
