The lens system includes a liquid crystal cell (2) mounted behind the objective (1) in the direction of light entrance in the imaging beam path, and connected electrically to a control unit (3). The liquid crystal cell (2) is designed so that with an applied electrical voltage, a dynamic scattering or dispersion effect arises in the zone between two parallel glass-plates containing a liquid-crystal substance. The scattering effect is characterised by domains, which become smaller, as a result of the difference in density of dispersion centres, and the light dispersion increases. ADVANTAGE - Variable photographic soft-focus system requiring low-power drive.
