A screw-type compressor is specified, in which the suction-side faces of the rotors are constructed as dynamic axial bearings for axial thrust compensation. For this purpose, on the suction-side faces of the rotors pocket-like grooves are provided, which are supplied with pressure oil from the circuit of an oil-flooded screw-type compressor via a through channel passing axially through the rotors and also via connecting channels running to the pocket-like grooves. During the rotary movement of the rotors, with the aid of the pocket-like grooves a type of pumping action is produced, by means of which an axial gap between the suction-side faces of the rotors and the opposite suction-side end wall is filled with pressure oil emanating from the pocket-like grooves, so that a pressure-oil cushion is created in the gap, forming a dynamic axial bearing. The forces generated by the pressure-oil cushion of the dynamic axial bearings counteract, for axial thrust compensation, the axial forces which act on the rotors in the direction of the suction side during the operation of the screw-type compressor. A dynamic axial force compensation is thus also obtained at the suction-side bearing region of the shaft ends of the rotors, in order to achieve reliable operation of the screw-type compressor with lowest possible wear.
