ABSTRACTA compound for protecting the internal sur-face of a pipeline against corrosion comprises analloy of sodium polyphosphate or monosubstitutedpotassium phosphate with the silicate of an alkalinemetal or silicon dioxide, taken in the weight ratios9 - 50:1, respectively. A method of producing thiscompound resides in mixing sodium polyphosphate ormonosubstituted potassium phosphate with the silicateof an alkaline metal or silicon dioxide in the weightratios 9- 50:1, respectively, the mixture obtained isfused at a temperature of 800 to 1000°C, with a sub-sequent cooling of the resultant alloy up to a vitreousstructure and the provision of an end product. Amethod of protecting the internal surface of a pipelineagainst corrosion resides in introducing the compoundwith the concentration of 0.3 to 3.5 mg/l in terms ofP2O5 in the operating pipeline for a pipeline withwater, or with the concentration of 25 to 250 mg/l interms of phosphorus in a sea water pipeline.
