Audio signal processing system for audio studio devices for the conversion of pulse-code-modulated samples of an audio signal into their likewise pulse-code-modulated computation values by means of a signal processor which receives the samples via an input and output unit from an external data bus or transmits the computation values to the data bus and which, on the basis of algorithms, converts the samples received from the data bus into computation values with the aid of computers, the number of operands required for implementing the individual algorithms varying. In order to simultaneously provide the operands which are required for the respectively employed algorithm and are to be converted into the computation value, provision is made of an LIFO buffer ZS, whose first storage location SP1 serves as central storage location. The buffer ZS in each case stores the samples required for the algorithm that is currently being executed using a sequence of bits which accompanies the execution of the algorithm and is stored in an auxiliary memory HS1...assigned to the respective computer RE1... This bit sequence reveals whether the number of samples which is necessary for implementing the relevant algorithm suffices, which is checked with the aid of interrogation units AE1, AE2. IMAGE
