The mechanical process proposed by the invention for separating ferrous alloys, such as silicomanganese and ferromanganese, from the slag produced during the production of these compounds consists in that: the slag is ground wet to a particle size of between 0 and 30 mm in order to release the silicomanganese or the ferromanganese therefrom the ferrous alloy with a particle size of between 3 and 30 mm is separated from the slag of the same particle size by means of a hydraulic classification screening using relative densities. Because of the specific density of the material obtained during the first two purges of the hydraulic screening system, concentrates of ferrous alloy with a particle size of between 0 and 3 mm are obtained, which are passed over a vibrating table to separate the ferrous alloy from its slag using the difference in densities.
