PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive steel hoistway with an easy structure settable in a low-storied wooden building by a hoistway steel tower integrated in the space of a low-storied building to the building by bolts extending through the wall or beam of the building. CONSTITUTION: Vertical columns 1-4 of a steel tower are vertically set, and upper end members 5, 6 are fixed to a building by bolts extending through the walls of the building surrounding a hoistway through brackets 11, 12. A lower frame integrally assembled in square is set on the lower end of the columns, and receiving plates 31 fixed to the four angles thereof are fixed to the foundation of the building by bolts 22. A member 23 and a square frame 25 are fastened to the middle part of the columns by bolts, and fixed to the building by bolts extending through the walls of the building surrounding the hoistway through brackets 27, 28, respectively. According to such a structure, the horizontal rigidity can be increased, a plurality of beams of the building can be consequently firmly fixed by the through-bolts, and an elevator steel hoistway of an easy structure causing no trouble in living can be provided.
