PURPOSE:To suppress price at a low value and obtain the aimed component, useful as a healthy food, etc., capable of readily ensuring stable supply of raw materials and facilitating omission of process by mechanization, by adding a solvent, etc., to the raw materials of the order Laminariales harvested in a specific period and extracting the component. CONSTITUTION:Raw materials of the order Laminariales obtained by mass cultivation are harvested in a period with a high content of the aimed fat-soluble component to be produced, dried and cut or crushed and a solvent is then added to the raw materials to extract the aimed component. Furthermore, in respectively extracting sterol or highly unsaturated fatty acids, the raw materials of the order Laminariales obtained by mass cultivation respectively harvested at 130-200 days and 250-300 days after transplantation are preferably used.
