In a protective barrier device for traffic routes which consists of individual components capable of being detachably assembled, displaceable on the traffic route and produced as prefabricated parts and each having metal beam barriers at least on the side facing the traffic route, said metal beam barriers are attached to a frame, framework or the like which can be moved at least by a stationary wheel or the like, the protective barriers jutting out over the longitudinal sides of the frame at least at one end and being connectable to neighbouring metal beam barriers.
