Two surface coils (1,2) connected in parallel lie on either side of the measurement field (14). A capacitor (3,4) is inserted into each coil. These capacitors are of different capacitances so as to form two resonance positions. At least one of the surface coils can be moved out of the measurement field. The coils and capacitors form arms which are connected in parallel to a matching unit which is connected to the transmission and reception unit of a magnetic resonance device. The surface coils can be Helmholtz coils, each with a conductor (8,9) in a plastic body (6,7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Spectroscopic or image generating investigation of object using nuclear magnetic resonance. Designed to improve intensity profile.
