The projectable passive liquid crystal display is provided with a display unit (50), to which are associated an electronic control unit (52) and two polorization filters (36, 38), one of which is arranged in the light path (arrow 54) in front of the display unit (50) and the other in the light path behind it. Both polarization filters (36, 38) are so arranged at a distance from the display unit (50) that an air passage is formed between the display unit (50) and each of the polarization filters (36, 38); said passages contain an air flow (arrows 58, 62) that impinges, in passing, on the inner surfaces of the polarization filters (36, 38) and display unit (50) and cools these parts.
