PURPOSE:To obtain a casting having an excellent surface characteristic and contg. less nonmetallic inclusions in the stage of casting continuously a thin sheet by pouring a molten steel on a moving surface, by passing the molten steel through the porous refractories provided in a molten steel pouring port, then pouring the molten steel into a casting part. CONSTITUTION:The continuous casting of the thin sheet is executed by pouring the molten steel 7 in a tundish 6 onto a moving metallic belt 12, forming a pouring basin 8 by gate members 1, 2 and forming a solidified shell 9 backward of a molten steel dropping point 11. The porous refractories 10 are provided in the molten steel pouring port and the molten steel 7 is passed therethrough to avert the remelting of the shell 9 by the falling impact of the molten steel 7 and to remove the nonmetallic inclusions. This method is applied to the continuous casting of the thin sheet by cooling type twin rolls as well. The production of the thin sheet casting having the excellent surface characteristic and contg. less nonmetallic inclusions is thus made possible.
