PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a large-sized steel forging which is refined in austenite crystal grains and has high quality by subjecting the large-sized forging to reduction working at a specific ratio in a manner as to prevent the recrystallization of the austenite phase upon finishing of forging, then subjecting the forging to isothermal pearlite transformation and elevating the temp. thereof the a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:The large-sized forging is subjected to =2.0% reduction working under the conditions under which the austenite phase is not recrystallized upon finishing of the forging. The forging is then subjected to the isothermal pearlite transformation and is further heated up to the phase transformation temp. at the time of elevating the temp. from the Ac3 (austenite+ferrite) phase to the austenite phase - 1,200 deg.C or is held at said temps. The austenite crystal grains are thereby refined and the large-sized steel forging having the high quality is obtd.
