PURPOSE:To automatically produce NC machining data by sequentially dividing and machining machined areas in a simpler shape apart from holes according to reference data. CONSTITUTION:A machined area division processor in an automatic machining device is constituted of a CPU 1, a keyboard with a CRT screen and memories 32-35, 46 and 71 for machine area data as separate tools. Moreover the processor is provided with a machine surface area processing data setting part 81, an area shape decision part 82, machined area data setting parts 83-85, 87, 88, 90 and 96. They classify the machined areas into such machining types as grooves, side grooves, sides and pockets. The grooves and the side grooves are slit into side parts and bottom parts, all of which are made into contour parts. In terms of rough machining, the side surfaces are slit into upper surface parts and bottom parts, while in terms of finished machining they are slit into side surface parts and bottom parts. The bottom parts for side machining are split into contour parts and area parts. ASs for only finished machining, the pockets are split into side surface parts and bottom parts. As a result part program conversion data can easily be obtained.
