PURPOSE:To obtain the high and uniform flowing speed of a gas and, additionally, to generate a uniform glow-discharge under the high pressure of the gas by a method wherein a corona electrode is accommodated inside a groove made at an insulating support and one main electrode is constructed by covering a metal mesh on the support from above. CONSTITUTION:One main electrode 1a is composed of a metal, e.g., stainless steel, Al or the like; its shape is to be a well-known curved surface structure. The other main electrode 1b is formed in the following way: that is to say, it is composed of an insulating material such as Teflon, a ceramic or the like; several grooves, e.g., two grooves 13 are made in the axial direction on the surface of a support which is formed to be the same curved surface structure as the main electrode 1a. A corona electrode 12 where a conductor wire 12b is inserted into an insulating tube 12a is buried into each groove 13. Then, a metal mesh 14 is covered along the curved surface of the support 11 from above; the main electrode 1b is arranged face to face with the main electrode 1a. The metal mesh 14 is brought into contact with a metal plate 15 which is attached to the back of the support 11. The main electrodes 1a, 1b formed in the above manner are arranged inside the oscillator 2 which is filled with a laser medium gas and are connected to a switching circuit for excitation use.
