PURPOSE:To control torque in high performance by arithmetically operating flux linkage and the instantaneous value of torque from the primary voltage and primary currents of an induction motor and comparing magnetic flux and the command value of torque. CONSTITUTION:The instantaneous values of each-phase primary voltage va, vb, vc and each-phase primary current ia, ib, ic of a three-phase induction motor 5 are detected respectively, and momentary voltage vectors are each computed by three-phase two-phase covnerters 81, 82. Magnetic flux PHI and the instantaneous value of torque T are arithmetically operated, using only primary winding resistance R as a motor circuit constant. The magnetic flux PHI and a flux command PHI, are compared in a computing element 11, momentary torque T and a torque command T' are compared in a computing element 23, and an inverter 41 is controlled.
