The invention relates to a method for ultrasonic testing of a turbine blade (2) for incipient cracks (4) in the blade base (1). According to the method, the planar end face of the blade base (1) flush-fitted in the wheel disc (3) is insonified with ultrasonic waves at a defined angle. To this end, an ultrasonic transducer (10) is arranged in a test template (5) which has a planar contact face which can be contacted with the planar end face of the blade base (1). The transducer (10) is arranged at an angle to the contact face of the test template (5) and is mounted so as to be pivotable about an axis (12) which runs perpendicular to the contact face of the test template.
