METHOD OF IMPARTING COLOR HIGHLIGHTS OR SHADOWSTO A TEXTURED DECORATIVE LAMINATEAbstract of the DisclosureA contrasting color is imparted to the decorativesurface of a decorative laminate by inserting a pigmentcoated release sheet between the molding caul and thedecorative surface during the molding operation, with thepigment facing the decorative surface. Upon applicationof heat and pressure during the formation of the laminate,color is transferred from the release sheet to the decorativesurface. A suitable technique is also used to emboss orimpart surface texture to the decorative surface duringmolding. Thereafter, the textured surface is subjectedto rubbing or brushing to remove more color from the embossedor raised areas than the debossed areas, thereby highlightingor imparting a shaded effect to the textured surface.
