The organic effluent (proteins, fats) is thickened up to the 30% dry matter content and this mass is then added to mineral clay in the ratio of 10-100%. The mixt. is homogenised, shaped, dried and ignited at 950-1250 deg.C. The organic sludge improves the shaping of the clay, the organic gases improve the porosity of the final product and reduce the energy requirements. The unwanted residue is burnt off during the ignition. - The product is of homogeneous porosity, weighs below 1.7 g/ml. while its water absorption capacity is above 20%.
