Enzymatic immuno-titration method comprises measuring the degree of bonding of one component of an antigen-antibody (Ag-Ab) reaction to an enzyme conjugate by incubating the reactant in many microtitre plate wells, then measuring the optical density caused by the action of the enzyme on a substrate. The new feature is that Ag or Ab is added to each well coated on a moulded plastic insert. Pref. the inserts are hollow and the open end is positioned in the well so that light can pass vertically through without obstruction. Esp. they are made of polypropylene and are dry-coated with Ag or Ab. - The insert (12) pref. has a conical shape, with the diam. decreasing in a downwards direction. Particularly a portion (14) extends above the level of the plate, this allows the inserts to be gripped by a loading frame. Movement upwards or downwards of this frame provides simultaneous removal/insertion of all the inserts.
