PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensively a high-Cr alloy by operating a rotary kiln in a nonstationary cycle so as to regulate the rate of prereduction and the amount of half-reduced Cr pellets to be fed to a melting and reducing furnace. CONSTITUTION:A high-Cr alloy is manufactured by melting and reducing Cr ore as starting material using equipment composed of a rotary kiln 1 as a prereducing furnace and a melting and reducing furnace 2 of top and bottom blowing converter type.
