The device uses a vibration mat (1) incorporating a number of vibration elements (3) coupled to a common vibration generator (8). This allows the effective vibration to be varied for each individual between 50 and 120 Hz. The mat (3) pref. has at least one foam layer (2,2a) to which the vibration elements (3) are attached at required spacings. The mat (3) is divided longitudinally into a series of sections to allow it to be folded when not in use.
