The water and air permeability and filtering efficiency of woven or nonwoven textiles made of natural or synthetic fibres, having an air permeability of not more than 15 l per sq.m. per second, is controlled by coating the textile fabric with a 25-34 wt.% solids contg. soln. in an organic solvent of polystyrene foam contg. plasticiser, pref. dibutyl-phthalate, drying the coated fabric and opt. applying one or more further polymer coatings.
