PURPOSE:To aim at purifying exhaust gas and at enhancing the output power of a Diesel-engine, by utilizing exhaust gas from the engine to preheat intake-air in order to raise the temperature of compressed air, and by making the jet port of a fuel injection nozzle in a fine size to promote atomization of fuel. CONSTITUTION:An air-heater 6 disposed in an exhaust pipe 5 is heated up to a high temperature during exhaust stroke of a diesel-engine 1. Meanwhile the ambient air is introduced through an air-filter 15 under action of intake-vacuum effected in an intake-air pipe 11, and then is introduced into the air-heater 6 through an air-fuel ratio regulator 7 and an air-pipe 8 under action of intake- vacuum acting upon a heated air injecting flange 12 so that the ambient air is heated up to a predetermined temperature. Further, this high temperature intake- air is introduced into a cylinder 2 to enhance the efficiency of combustion. Meanwhile fuel injected from a nozzle 13 is completely atomized by means of a fine-size hole 14 formed in the tip end of the nozzle 13. With this arrangement it is possible to attain the purification of exhaust gas and the enhancement of output power of the engine.
