PURPOSE:To prevent a corrosion on the joint surface of an engaging part, by forming a surface layer and hollow part made of austenite metal on the joint surface of the engaging part for packing heads and increasing a contact surface pressure by reducing the contact area with the hollow part formed on said metal surface layer. CONSTITUTION:A steam turbine for a nuclear power plant is integrally constructed by tightening bolts at a flange portion with each of upper and lower casings. On joint surfaces A, B of a packing head engaging part provided with the flange, a surface layer 12 made of austenite metal is formed. While a hollow part 12a is formed to obtain a high surfaces pressure when jointed to the upper casing. Further on the metallic surface layer 12, a key groove 11 and steam relief groove 13 linked to a gland seal line are provided. In this way, a corrosion due to the wet steam on the joint surface in the packing head engaging part can be prevented.
