PURPOSE:To recover a high-quality alkali metal by crystallizing and separating the alkali metal from a soln. extracted from refining slag contg. an alkali metallic compound and by adding calcined dolomite or the like to the filtrate to make P, S and Si difficultly soluble. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron is refined with an alkali metallic compound, and produced slag is crushed to a prescribed grain size. The refining slag (a) contg. the alkali metallic ompound is fed to an extraction vessel 1, and a filtrate from a filter 4c as a circulating soln. (b) and part of a filtrate from a filter 4a after separating undissolved residue as a refluxing soln. (c) are supplied. By blowing a synthetic gas (e) contg. CO2, O2 and N2, the pH is adjusted. A slurry prepared by extraction is fed from the vessel 1 to a crystallization gas (e), after filtration, and by adjusting the pH with a similar gas (e), NaHCO3 is crystallized. It is filtered off with the filter 4b. This filtrate is fed to a vessel 3 for removing P, S and Si, and calcined dolomite, calcined dolomite lime or hydroxide thereof is added as a removing agent (d) to make P, S and Si difficultly or slightly soluble. They are then separated and removed with the filter 4c.
