The printedproducts of the first product formation lying at the topmarginally protrude at one side thereof past the printedproducts of the second product formation lying at the bottom.A deflecting part or element of the separation element isarranged in the travel path of the protruding marginal portionsof the printed products of the first product formation. Thedeflecting part or element extends transversely with respect tothe travel path. The printed products of the second productformation lying at the bottom run past the deflecting part orelement without being acted upon by the latter and are outfedby a first outfeed conveyor. The printed products of the topsituated product formation contact on the deflecting part orelement at their protruding marginal portion and are deflectedupwardly and lifted from the printed products of the bottomsituated product formation.
