ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn improved continuously cast steel bar having a moreuniform distribution of constituents and impurities to therebyprovide a better cast steel product for subsequent processing.The novel continuously cast steel bar has, when measured intransverse cross-section, particularly low and consistentvariations in average oxygen content, average carbon content,average sulfur content, and average manganese content whilepossessing a tensile strength in the as-cast condition that isapproximately ten percent greater than as-cast steel bars castfrom the same melt but using a commercially proven prior artprocess.
