Pen for suckling and weaning piglets - has sow with suckling piglets in stall on floor with weaning piglets in cage mounted over top of stall to reduce space
The pen (1) is of tubular steel construction and in two parts. The lower comprises a main stall (4) at floor level, used for holding the sow. On each side is a smaller stall (5, 6) for holding piglets in the suckling stage. Food and water troughs are provided. A cage (3) is mounted over the stall, its length being equal to the main stall plus each side stall; its width is less than that of the main stall. This cage houses piglets in the weaning stage and has its own food and water arrangements (16, 18).
