Moving metal prod., e.g. rolled sheet, section or rail, or continuously cast slab, with at least 1 plane surface, is cooled by continuous flow of an aq. medium. - A space is formed by a partition opposite the plane surface and approximately parallel to it, which is completely filled by the aqueous medium. The medium is introduced through openings, in the partition, so that, flowing through it, it produces turbulence, in the medium filling the space. The specific flow of aq. medium is 5-80 litres per square metre, and the distance between the plane surface to be cooled, and the partition 5-300mm.
