Method of stabilization of an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, 1996, aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, 1996 and method of use of the properties of the oxidizing solution.
An aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is stabilised by the presence of free fluoride (F-) ions therein. Stabilisation may be achieved by addition to the hydrogen peroxide solution of a fluorine containing compound chosen from any fluorine derivative which, in the presence of water, hydrolyses to generate hydrofluoric acid, for example fluorine-containing acids such as hydrofluoric acid, fluosilicic acid and fluoboric acid, boron trifluoride, fluorine-containing salts such as the fluorides, fluosilicates, fluoborates and bifluorides. A reactant capable of oxidation by hydrogen peroxide can be oxidised by treating it with the above mentioned stable aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution at a pH of from 0.1 to 5.
