In a support system for underground spaces driven by full-face excavation, in particular in a roadway support system for full-section machine headings, by means of sectional support segments which are provided with connections at their ends and are placed at an incline relative to a perpendicular cutting plane running transversely to the heading direction, provision is made according to the invention for the segments connected in succession to the previously placed segments in accordance with the advance of the face to form a sectional support band which constitutes a spiral, the pitch of which corresponds to the segment inclination.
