The fire fighting system uses a preliminary mixture of foam-producing agent and water discharged through a differential mixing device, where halogen is added in quantities as required. The installation consists of a pressure vessel (11) containing halogen and a vessel (12) containing a foam-producing agent. Both vessels are mounted on a common frame (10). On the same frame a shelf (13) for storing nitrogen cylinders (14, 15) is fitted. The nitrogen cylinders are connected to each of the preassurised vessels (12, 13) by pressure reducing valves (16, 17). The outlets from the pressurised vessels are fitted with cutoff valves (18, 19) and piped to the differential pressure mixing device (20) which has its outlet connected through a hose (21) to the foam discharging tube (22). The mixing device (20) also has a flushing device (23) to remove traces of extinguishing agent after use.
