The pipe lifter is for movement of horizontal pipe sections and consists of a support leg (1) and a lifting leg (2). The latter has an attachment (4) for a chain (5) or line, while a section (3) joins the legs. The attachment can be moved from an inner handling position to an outer lifting position, moving against spring pressure (10). The lifter also has a mechanism for ensuring horizontal balance of the whole lifter.
