摘要

PURPOSE:To facilitate the production of a composite roll which is not constant in the thickness of the outside shell layer in its axial center direction by pressing the outside circumference of the outside shell layer of which the outside circumferential surface is cast to a circumferentially projecting surface or circumferentially recessed surface, thereby forcing the circumferentially projecting or recessed surface into a core material. CONSTITUTION:A composite roll blank material 5 which is not constant in the thickness of the outside shell layer is cast by using a mold wherein the inside circumferential surface of a barrel part chiller 1 is a circumferentially projecting or recessed surface. Next, plastic working is applied to the material 5 to force the wall thickness of its outside shell layer 5 to the core material 6 side, thereby pressure forming the outside circumferential surface in the barrel part of the material 5 to a flat surface. The thickness of the layer 5 is made to desired nonuniform portions in the axial center direction of the barrel part.
