The rack panel strips are used to fill unoccupied areas in the front and rear panels in order to eliminate gaps in the equipment case walls. Forced air cooling of the rack will thus not be impaired by air escaping from the sides. The gaps are filled by a number of modular strips of a width which fits the pitch of the rack slider rails. Each strip is formed with recesses into which fit the male counterparts of neighbouring strips. Strips may be slid together to build up units of any desired width. Embossed segments on one plate fit into similarly shaped notches on the next to fix the assembly together. The panels are fixed by intrinsic locking devices in the form of male and female connections. The panels can be made from plastics or cast metal.
