Route monitoring system for public service vehicle - contains microprocessor to monitor actual route from detectors and pre-programmed data to control passenger information display
An electronic unit containing a microprocessor with mass and program memories controls a transmitter which requests priority by communicating with a traffic light controller. The mass memory stores the theoretical route for the vehicle and a section of it stores actual route information. Detectors enable vehicle operation to be checked by giving time, distance and fuel information. They also control opening of the doors. A driver control panel contains a badge reader to ensure the identity of the driver is recorded. A display enables instructions to be given to the driver to indicate route number and time for the next vehicle. A large display in the front of the passenger compartment indicates route number, destination and next stop information.
