Mould is assembled using a wall fixed by staggered rows of tie rods to a support or sheath; and the sheath contains vertical water cooling channels in which the water flows round some tie rods. Sheath is pref. provided with cavities round the tie rods, so the water can flow along a desired path. The result obtd. by the invention is homogeneous water cooling of the mould.
