The plant comprises a septic tank with transfer of effluent to an internal, slow-flow, horizontal sedimentation channel; and internal degreasing tank and inspection chamber piped in series between the sedimentation channel and the out-flow connection. Pref. the outer wall of the the degreasing tank joins the vertical side of the septic tank to the underside of the base of the sedimentation channel. The degreasing tank is pref. located underneath the sedimentation channel. The exterior form of the degreasing tank, e.g. downwardly convergent conical, eliminates any possibly problem of infilling beneath the tank as the plant is installed. The plant is inexpensive, compact, lightweight and easy to install with less risk of leaks.
