Method for preparing 1-carbamoyl-3- (3,5-dichlorophenyl) -hydantoin and mesoquent 1-chlorocarbonyl-3- (3,5-dichlorophenyl) -hydantoin that can be used for preparing foreign substances
1-Carbamoyl 3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl) hydantoins (I) are prepd. from the corresp. 1-unsubstd. hydantoins (II) by reaction with phosgene in presence of acid acceptor to give (III) followed by an amine R1R2NH in presence of acid acceptor (where R1 is 1-4C alkyl, or phenyl; R2 is H or 1-4C alkyl). The products are known agricultural fungicides, e.g. iprodione.
